Social Media Post Templates: 40 Copy-and-Paste Formats
Updated · Multi Post Social guide
Social media post templates are structures, not scripts. Each one below gives you a shape that works, with {brackets} where your own words go. There are 40, grouped by goal: launches, tips, behind the scenes, questions, offers, community, Stories and recaps. Filter by goal and length, copy one, fill the brackets and queue it in Multi Post Social or any tool you use.
How to use a template without sounding like one
The risk with social media post templates is that everyone sounds the same. The fix is simple: the template decides the order of the ideas, you decide the words. Replace every bracket with a specific detail rather than a general one. “Saved us three hours a week” beats “saved us time”; “our Tuesday planning call” beats “our process”. Cut any phrase you would not say out loud. Then read the post once as your reader, not as the writer, and remove the sentence that is only there because the template had a slot for it.
Templates are most useful for the empty cell in a content calendar, for the post you have to write in five minutes, and for keeping a recurring format consistent, such as a weekly recap. They are least useful for the posts that made you want to write in the first place; those do not need a shape.

Filter, copy, fill in. The length label shows which networks the empty template already fits; your filled version will be longer, so check it with the character counter.

Templates by goal
Each group answers a different question from your audience. Mixing them across a week keeps a channel from feeling like one long advertisement or one long lecture.
| Goal | What it does for the reader | How often | Pairs well with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch | Tells them something new exists and why it matters | When you ship; rarely more than weekly | Behind the scenes |
| Tips | Teaches one thing they can use today | 1–3 a week | Questions |
| Behind the scenes | Builds trust by showing how the work is done | 1 a week | Stories |
| Questions | Invites a reply and shows you listen | 1–2 a week | Community |
| Offers | Gives a clear reason to act now | Sparingly; under one in five posts | Launch |
| Community | Celebrates the people around the brand | 1 a week | Recaps |
| Stories | Short, disappearing frames for daily presence | Most days | Everything |
| Recaps | Summarizes so people who missed things catch up | Weekly or monthly | Tips |
Adapting a template per network
A filled template is the base text. Each network then needs small changes, which the composer’s per-network tabs make easy. For X and Bluesky, cut to the hook and one point and move the rest into a thread. For LinkedIn, add a line of personal context at the top and break the text into short lines. For Instagram, move hashtags to the first comment and make the first sentence work as the caption preview. For Threads, end with the question. For Pinterest and YouTube, the template becomes a title and a description rather than a caption. The repurposing guide goes through each format in detail.
Writing your own templates
The best templates come from your own top posts. Open the posts with the highest saves and shares in analytics, remove the specifics and keep the structure: how it opened, how many points it made, how it closed. Write the structure as a template with brackets and save it where you write. Five templates of your own, refreshed every quarter, usually serve a channel better than forty of anyone else’s.
Give each template a job, a goal and a note on the length it tends to produce. Retire templates whose posts stop performing, and never let one template produce more than one post a week on the same channel; readers notice patterns faster than writers do.
Safe use
Fill in brackets with true, specific details; a template is not a license to invent results or quotes. Offers must state real conditions and end dates, and sponsored posts must be labeled with the network’s tool. Avoid sending the same filled template to many accounts at once, which networks treat as spam. See the acceptable use policy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these templates for clients?
Yes. They are free to use for any account you manage. Keep a separate set of filled templates per client so voices do not blend.
Do templates hurt engagement?
Only when the brackets are filled with vague words. Specific details and your own tone make a template invisible; readers respond to the content, not the shape.
How do I save a template inside the product?
Paste the filled text into the composer and choose Save as draft, or add the structure to the ideas board with a “Template” tag. The product roadmap lists a dedicated template field; check the changelog for its release.
Will there be more templates?
The library grows when a new format proves itself. New entries are announced in the changelog, and the count in the filter shows the current total.
Fill a template and queue it in one step
Create a free account, paste a filled template into the composer and let per-network tabs shape it for every channel.
