Schedule YouTube Shorts and Videos

Updated · Multi Post Social guide

You can schedule YouTube Shorts and standard videos from Multi Post Social: upload the file, write the title, description and tags, set the visibility and the made-for-kids flag, and the video goes live at the time you choose. This guide covers the channel permissions YouTube asks for, the connection steps, the metadata fields the composer provides, the upload limits, and what still needs YouTube Studio.

What you can schedule on YouTube

Two formats publish directly. A Short is a vertical video under three minutes; YouTube decides it is a Short from the ratio and length, and the composer shows a Short badge when the file qualifies. A standard video is anything else. Both take a title, a description, tags, a category, a visibility setting, a thumbnail and the made-for-kids declaration. Playlists can be chosen at upload. Live streams, premieres and community posts remain in YouTube Studio.

Account requirements

You need to be the owner or a manager of the YouTube channel through the Google account you sign in with. Brand Accounts work: pick the brand channel when Google asks which account to use. Channels that are not yet verified have a 15-minute upload limit per video, which YouTube lifts after phone verification in YouTube Studio. Monetization and Partner Program status do not affect scheduling.

How to connect YouTube

  1. Open Channels, press Connect channel and choose YouTube.
  2. Sign in with Google and pick the account or Brand Account that owns the channel.
  3. Allow the permissions to upload videos and read channel statistics. Google shows them one by one; accept each.
  4. Set the time zone and posting schedule. YouTube uploads take a few minutes to process, so the publish time is when the video becomes public, not when the upload starts.

What stays in YouTube Studio

End screens, cards, chapters, pinned comments and the Shorts remix settings are edited in YouTube Studio after the upload. Community posts, premieres and live streams are not available to any tool. Multi Post Social shows views, likes and comments for your uploads in analytics and brings YouTube comments into the inbox.

Best practices when you schedule YouTube Shorts and videos

  • Title first, video second: a clear title with the search phrase does more than tags.
  • Write the first two description lines as a sentence a reader would click.
  • Shorts under 60 seconds with a vertical 9:16 frame get the Shorts shelf; keep text inside the safe area.
  • Upload a custom thumbnail for standard videos; a frame grab rarely wins.
  • Publish at a consistent weekday slot so subscribers learn when to expect you.
  • Reuse Shorts as Instagram Reels and TikTok videos; the AI assistant rewrites the caption per network.

Mobile tips

Large files upload faster on Wi-Fi; the Multi Post Social app lets you pick Wait for Wi-Fi before an upload starts. Write descriptions on desktop and use the phone for Shorts recorded on the day.

For Shorts, write the first line of the description as if it were the caption: it is the only part most viewers read on a phone. Add the three hashtags at the end, keep the title under 60 characters so it is not cut off in the Shorts shelf, and pick a visibility of Public only after the upload has finished processing in your Multi Post Social queue, otherwise the first viewers may hit a low-resolution version.

YouTube rules to keep in mind

YouTube requires the made-for-kids declaration on every upload and applies its community guidelines and copyright checks to scheduled videos exactly as to manual ones. Disclose paid promotion with the built-in checkbox. YouTube’s Help Center describes the current upload policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I schedule YouTube Shorts directly?

Yes. A vertical video under three minutes uploads as a Short and goes public at the scheduled time.

Why does my video take minutes to appear?

YouTube processes every upload before it can be public. Multi Post Social uploads ahead of the slot so the video goes live on time.

Can I set a custom thumbnail when scheduling?

Yes, if the channel is verified by phone. Unverified channels get an automatic frame.

Can I schedule community posts or premieres?

No tool can. Those are created in YouTube Studio.
